Less than 5km away from the village of Pyrgos, Mount Profitis Ilias is the highest point of the island. And right at its summit stands a monastery of the same name. Dating back to 1711, the monastery of Profitis Ilias, one of the oldest on the island, is a stunning example of Cycladic architecture at its best.
